Hanging Out, Shopping and Eating
Of course there are many bowling alleys, movie theaters and seasonal mini-golf courses around the Metro. But there are also other ways to enjoy a night out to hang with friends.
There are places to eat on nearly every corner around town. Jordan Creek Mall offers music by the lake and many restaurants and attractions. The Historic East Village offers many restaurant choices, music venues and boutiques. The local farmers markets are fantastic! Saturday mornings May through October the Downtown Farmer’s Market offers music, food, produce and goods. Thursday evenings May through October West Des Moines offers the Valley Junction Farmer’s Market with live music until 8 pm. You can still be back in time to get all of your studying done!
The Science Center of Iowa has an IMAX theater and a plethora of exhibits. The Historical Building has ongoing exhibits of Iowa history and featured exhibits all year round. Sleepy Hollow Sports Park has mini-golf, batting cages, go-carts, a driving range and in the winter offers skiing, snow tubing and snow boarding. In the summer enjoy water sports and beaches at one of the local lakes.
Or take a stroll around Gray’s Lake, just south of downtown, with that special someone. It’s especially beautiful at night, a Des Moines treasure...no matter what you’re into or not…there is always something fun to do in Des Moines. We can’t wait for you to join our urban community and experience all of the attractions available to you in the Metro Area!
