Grand View Student Ministries

Students who have a passion for ministry can find an outlet for their gifts through Grand View Student Ministries (GVSM). GVSM both supports and connects students with ministry and service opportunities on and off campus. The core team also provides valuable guidance for students hoping to launch new ministries and support to existing ones. GVSM is committed to prayerfully identifying and purposefully seeking to better meet needs both on campus and in our local community - for the sake of the gospel.

Director of Student Ministries: Alex Krumm akrumm@grandview.edu

Lizzy Feilmeier, Team Leader
I’m Lizzy Feilmeier, a senior in the Arts Education and Studio Arts program.  Along with Student Ministries, I'm also involved in the Grand View theatre, including being the treasurer for Grand View's chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the National Honorary Theatre Society.  I love to read and watch movies, as well as do crafts.  I can easily find fun and enjoyment in all that I do.  I love the way Student Ministries incorporates the arts into different events, such as Mosaic projects and street painting.  My favorite Bible verse is Genesis 1:31—“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.  And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”

Stacie Venner, Viking Catholics Leader
Hi! My name is Stacie Venner, and I am a sophomore nursing major at Grand View. In my free time I like to find a good book to read, and to spend time with family and friends! There are many things I enjoy about Student Ministries at Grand View, but the thing I love most is getting to know others at the various activities that Student Ministries holds. The people there are always welcoming and it is great to be able to get a break from school work, and go have fun also while exploring a little bit about your faith!  My favorite bible verse is: 1 Peter 3:15, “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence.”

Joseph Gayer, Chapel Co-Coordinator
My name is Joseph Gayer and I’m a junior double business major (business administration with a concentration in agricultural business and management service systems). On campus, I’m involved with choir, student leadership, and intramurals. I like to work out, stay active with sports, play video games, and hang out with friends. My position on Student Ministry Team is Chapel Co-Coordinator. On campus, I especially love helping with communion.  My favorite Bible passage is the parable of the lost sheep, found in Luke 15: “Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.  But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Then Jesus told them this parable:  “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?  And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’  I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Hannah Hansen, Chapel Co-Coordinator
Hello! My name is Hannah Hansen and I am a sophomore Theology and Photography double major. I enjoy taking photos and documenting life’s precious moments in hopes of becoming a wedding and lifestyle photographer one day. I am from Grimes, IA where my parents reside with our two puppies. I have one sister who is a senior at the United States Military Academy. I love to swim and be outside in the sun. I am on the cheer team here at Grand View as well as being a part of Student Ministries and Team GV. In my free time (that I do not have), I like to run, bike, swim, compete, and train for triathlons. I love spending time in the church and worship by some good Jesus jams!  My favorite Bible verse is Acts 20:24, “ But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God’s grace.”

Heather Carpe, After Hours Co-Leader
Hi, I’m Heather Carpe. I’m a junior photography major and I love meeting new people! I’m an After Hours Co-Leader on the Grand View Student Ministries Team.  I hope to meet a lot of you throughout the year at different events! I love watching people grow in their faith while on their own at college. There are many things to go to that help with this which is one of my favorite this about faith life on campus!  My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 5:14 “This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”

Robert Fees, After Hours Co-Leader
Hey, Robert here!  I am a 2nd year nursing student here at GV.  On campus, I’m involved with Bible studies and am excited to be on the Student Ministry Team!  Some things I love are meeting new people, sharing Christ with children, and fundraising (yes, you heard me right)!  I recently participated in Dance Marathon, as well as the Polar Plunge to raise money for children who are sick.  Feel free to ask me about how to get involved around here!  My favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12, “Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Justina Glick, Prayer Vikings Co-Leader
Hey I am Justina! I am a senior majoring in human services and am a member of the grand view softball team. One thing I enjoy about faith life on campus is getting others involved and creating new friendships! My favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Nate Johnson, Prayer Vikings Co-Leader
Hey!  My name is Nate Johnson and I am a sophomore Business Administration major. I run track and cross country at Grand View and enjoy reading in my free time. I really enjoy Mosaic because it is more contemporary worship. One of my favorite bible verses is Luke 6:27-28, "I say to you who hear me, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."

Krister Strandskov, Artist
Hello all, I'm Krister Strandskov. I'm at senior studying photography. In my spare time I really enjoy working with my hands, dabbling in everything from electronics and working on my car, to shooting and developing film, to wood and metalwork. One of my favorite things about the GV ministries is its inclusiveness. The Bible verse that has always stuck out to me is Ephesians 2: 8-9, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."

Sarah Price, Press Manager
Hi! My name is Sarah Price and I’m a sophomore this year with a major in graphic journalism. In my free time I like to blog, create art, write, read, and practice my violin. What I enjoy about ministry at GV is the way they really make an effort to show that they care about you not just spiritually, but in other ways too. My favorite Bible verse is Romans 5: 6-8 “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Megan Hummel, Hype Leader
Helloooooo! My name is Megan Hummel & I am a sophomore nursing major. I am a sports fanatic, so you will probably find me spending my free time on the court, field, or diamond! I stay busy competing in basketball & tennis here at Grand View. My favorite thing about GV ministry is Mosaic on Wednesday nights because I love to dance & let loose while worshipping our wonderful Lord and Savior! My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." If you see me around, say hi. :)

Kelsey Jespersen, Photographer
Hey there!  My name is Kelsey Jespersen and I am a senior business major with a finance concentration and a photography minor.  In my free time (which is not very much since work and homework keep me busy) I like to take pictures, hang out with family and friends, and be active by working out and playing sports for fun.  What I enjoy about being on the Student Ministries Team is meeting all the friendly, new people.  Also, I love that I can go to anyone involved in campus ministries and talk to them about anything. My favorite Bible verse is from Joshua 1: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
