The Financial Aid Shopping Sheet is a consumer tool created by the U.S. Department of Education and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that can be used to notify students about their financial aid package. It is a standardized form that is designed to simplify the information that prospective students receive about costs and financial aid so that they can easily compare institutions and make informed decisions about where to attend school. Grand View University has voluntarily committed to providing the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet to prospective Veterans and service member students beginning in the 2013-2014 award year.
In order to make your shopping sheet as clear as possible, we have provided additional information on some of the terms you will find on it below:
Estimated Cost of Attendance:
These amounts are calculated by Grand View and are based on the average educational and living expenses of students with enrollment statuses and housing situations similar to yours. (Please notify us if your enrollment/housing plans differ from what we have listed.) The total amount of financial aid we offer cannot exceed your Estimated Cost of Attendance. Please note that this figure includes living expenses that are not billed by Grand View, so the total will be higher than the Estimated Billable Costs you will see on your Financial Aid Notification – Award Letter.
This figure shows the estimated costs you will be responsible for after all of your grant and scholarships are applied. Please keep in mind that this amount includes the estimated cost of living expenses that are not billed by Grand View. If you want an estimate of what you will owe the University after your grants/scholarships and federal loan options are applied, please see your Remaining Out-Of-Pocket Expenses on the enclosed Financial Aid Notification – Award Letter.
This amount is calculated from the information provided on your FAFSA. Grand View does not calculate this figure, and it does not consider it to be the amount your family can afford to pay. Rather, we use it as a qualifying number to determine if you are eligible for certain types of need-based financial aid.
