Statement of commitment
As Grand View evolves, our residence life staff continues to expand and strengthen in order to provide for the development and progress of our residents. It is our mission to provide every resident with an abundance of opportunities to form meaningful relationships, ensure academic success and enjoy life as part of a fun and safe community.
Leadership opportunities in Residence Life
You’ll find many leadership opportunities in residence life. These include serving as floor representatives and resident assistants or joining the Residence Hall Association (RHA). Floor representatives are students who regularly attend RHA meetings to represent the floors they live on. Resident assistants are upper-class students who work with residents by planning personal growth programs, becoming mentors and friends, and instructing residents about community standards. RHA members plan activities for residential students as well as address residential student concerns and develop policies for the residence halls.
Activities and programs
The intramural program is quickly growing and provides recreational athletic activities for students, staff, and faculty. Current intramural events include basketball, dodgeball, flag football, indoor volleyball, ping pong, sand volleyball, soccer, and softball.
Viking Brigade is the cheering section for our athletic events. Students tailgate, paint their faces and sing the fight song. Our school mascot often gets involved in cheering squads and you'll be sure to see the Viking at many home events.
Several residential activities have become tradition for our students. These include bingo, kickball, and sand volleyball. The events often feature music, food and prizes! We also offer educational programming throughout the year, such as alcohol awareness events.
