Theology and Philosophy

The major in Theology is designed to provide you with a broad-based curriculum introducing you to important methodologies in the academic study of theology, to significant texts in the various religious traditions, and to the history of theological and religious reflection. Students of all religious backgrounds are welcome and their viewpoints are honored within this major.

The Grand View Theology and Philosophy Departments serve the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America by:

  • offering a major in Theology, emphasizing the Judeo-Christian heritage.
  • offering academic preparation for students wishing to enter the seminary.
  • providing course work for those seeking to be certified and rostered as Associates in Ministry.
  • offering academic preparation for those wishing to pursue graduate work in religious studies
  • providing an opportunity for students to explore the nature of religious faith.

Minors are offered in Theology and Philosophy.
