Job Description:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for monitoring the NOC and reacting to alarms/events generated within an infrastructure monitoring platform based on corresponding procedures. Coordinating the NOC response to alarms/events and ensuring standard, daily processes are followed. Act as a lead for Tier 3’s for daily activities and in response to alarms/events. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: •Troubleshoot and monitor activity through the network. • Interact with Field Technicians within various regions across the country in maintaining a service infrastructure that delivers Video, High Speed data and Telephony services. • Maintain service level agreements by maintaining NOC escalation time lines and continuous re-assessment of open issues. • Isolate and diagnose faults and manage resolution with appropriate department. • Interact with departments to address issues identified within the network. • Participate in updating present written processes and in the development of new processes, in conjunction with the NOC manager. • Generate reports on issue and network trends. • Adhere to company and department policy and practice in an effort to assure prompt resolution to identified problems • Actively work with NOC Tier 3 group, OSS engineering and external Service Providers on problem resolution activities. • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: • Minimum of 6 months as a Mediacom NOC Operator, or a minimum of 1 year Cable TV/Broadband/Telecommunications NOC experience required. • 6 months of lead or supervisory experience recommended. • Minimum of 2 years of applied experience working with network management technologies. • Applied understanding of LAN/WAN infrastructures, including voice and high speed data infrastructure components. • Knowledge of telecommunication infrastructure a plus. • Advanced, applied knowledge of Cisco Technologies. • Working knowledge of DWDM and SONET. • Basic understanding of database technologies. • Four year college degree in networking or a related field recommended. • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; experience in a 7x24x365 support environment a plus. • Excellent troubleshooting skills. • Good decision-making skills. • Ability to work under stress. • Ability to follow detailed procedures. • Ability to work within a team environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
