Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Web Designer to work with our Web Developer to design professional looking websites. With the assistance and guidance of our Web Team, you will also produce and implement all digital creative content—including associated banners, e-blasts, social media, and various marketing collateral—for e-Commerce use on our promotional product and corporate apparel sites. A successful candidate will be extremely creative and detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills. Must thrive in fast-paced environments, and have demonstrated expertise in blending creative design elements and technical coding skills to bring designs to life within our many B2B websites. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: •Develop effective designs and layouts including websites, banners, e-blasts, landing pages, social media, marketing collateral, digital publications, and more. •Create engaging designs that advance clients’ positioning and achieve clients’ goals on time. •Produce, proofread, update, and maintain effective sales generating web content for landing pages, web store sale products, e-blasts, and other web promotions. •Create, clean up, or resize product images, art and/or logos for various types of ad specialties and promotional products for the web. •Support the Art Department and Web Team in the shooting and editing of images that ensure the consistent, effective display of online products. •Collaborate with Web Developers, Web Content Administrator and Marketing Team to develop compelling advertising concepts that meet company goals. •Proofread, compare, and verify the accuracy of all details such as font type, size, color, copy, and logo specifications for all jobs assigned. •Develop user-friendly site design by following existing style guides as well as creating new designs and accompanying style guides (with the help of the web content administrator). •Responsible for overseeing ongoing changeover within all websites periodically. •Consult with Marketing and Web Teams on web content planning and develop/maintain the master content calendar to facilitate on-time delivery. •Keep current with existing trends impacting graphic design and graphic design tools across the e-Commerce, retail, and promotional products industries through relevant blogs and websites, industry research, and social media. Keep informed about innovative technology and make recommendations for the compet.com websites. •Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Web/Development, Graphic Design or Visual Communications preferred. •2+ years of website design experience required. e-Commerce experience with a B2B marketing organization or multi-channel retailer preferred. •2+ years of Marketing, Public Relations, or Promotions background preferred, but not required. •Mobile web layout/interface experience preferred. •Demonstrated strengths in web design, project management, marketing, communications, and/or public relations. •Online portfolio displaying strong graphics and development skills. •Demonstrated knowledge of current web design trends and techniques. •Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail in prior design work. •Demonstrated strong understanding of user interface/user experience design. •High standards for creative and development executions. •Ability to develop content that supports objectives with minimal direction. •Ability to clearly and professionally communicate visual solutions to support marketing strategies. •Capacity to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. •Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while paying impeccable attention to detail. •Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to be flexible as project and management needs change, all while balancing competing demands. •Self-starter who works well independently and in a team environment with a strong interest in graphic design. •Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written skills, with the ability to quickly build effective working relationships with individuals in a variety of business functions. •Positive outlook and professionalism in all aspects of daily tasks. Computer Skills: •Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Illustrator) required. •HTML, XHTML, and CSS experience required. Some Macromedia Flash experience required. Must be able to convert graphics into HTML and XHTML format. •Familiarity with all common web browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari) is required. •Experience with digital photography and video editing software preferred. •Experience using Social Media (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter) also desired. •Working knowledge of Mac OS 10 and Windows XP required. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
