Job Description:
All Shifts are available for this position. o Administers basic nursing care to Residents in accordance with facility’s policies and procedures. o Thoroughly assesses Residents and responds according to Nursing Standards of Practice. o Plans and implements Resident care according to Care Plan o Evaluates Residents on an on-going basis to ensure needs are met and Care Planned properly o Observes Resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Physician of Resident's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. o Documents interventions and Resident/family education. o Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal ranges and assess condition of Resident. o Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. o Supervises C.N.A.s. Charge Nurse will supervise all nursing staff. All nurses will be responsible for supervising C.N.A.’s. Appropriately handles all Employee related issues within scope of authority. o Administers medication, including IV medication, according to doctor’s order and established policy and procedure. o Conduct narcotics counts and maintains emergency kits/EDKs. o Follows Admission, Discharge and Transfer procedures. o Communicates appropriately and completely with Physicians and does appropriate documentation in regards to doctor’s orders. o Effectively handles Resident and family complaints and requests.

A. or A.A.S. or A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Language Ability: Ability to converse in English. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos using the English language. Ability to speak loudly; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Residents, Resident family members and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Residents, families and Employees. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: No computer skills needed. Certificates and Licenses: Current Registered Nurse License, State of Iowa Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 5-35 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to quiet.
