Job Description:
• Develops internship host sites within the host business. • Participates in basic job coach training and continual staff development. • Works with instructor to assess student skills and gather baseline data. • Observes the work of the potential internship and/or competitive job • Performs Job/Task Analysis of the worksites and competitive job • Reinforces employability skills and assists student to understand and interpret work culture • Assists in training students in interview process (unique to each host business) in order for students to gain both work sites and competitive positions • Learns the internship duties and make any modifications (label cabinets, simplifies written instructions, etc) necessary to the successful completion of the job. • Attends Job orientation with the intern and clarifies the information with the intern as necessary • Teaches the essential tasks/duties/core skills of the job to the student intern o Builds natural supports • Reinforces business culture and protocol to the student intern • Teaches safe practices according to the work environment • Models appropriate workplace behavior • Determines new skills to layer and build as student gains competencies and confidence • Meets with manager and peer mentor regularly to discuss issues and solve problems • Work with managers and co workers to educate on disability awareness • Assess students progress and give feedback to intern and team members • Competes necessary evaluations, reports and other documentation • Communicates effectively with team including (teacher, manager, IVRS counselor, and other team members) • Looks for new internship opportunities and shares with team members • Performs travel training when utilizing public transportation. • Learn and implement Positive Behavior Support techniques. • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in human services or related field and/or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. • Certified in CPR and First Aid within first 90 days • Ability to complete Relational Mandt. • Ability to successfully complete Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within first 30 days • Ability to obtain and maintain Iowa driver’s license. • Must be insurable under Easter Seals vehicle insurance policy. • Access to Reliable Transportation for regular participation in work • Desire to work in a team environment. • Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines. • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats • Ability to work with wide variety of people, with and without disabilities. • Have access to reliable transportation. • Ability to operate a computer and navigate through Easter Seals database. Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred. • Ability to transfer or move up to 80 pounds. • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift • Track and maintain position certifications and agency required trainings
