Job Description:
Responsibilities to: Campers / Villagers • Provide a safe and fun camp experience. • Communicate problems/concerns individuals in the travel team are experiencing to the appropriate site supervisor as assigned in a expedient and accurate manner. Staff • Active in ensuring travel team are acclimated to each work setting and given tools to succeed at each location • Responsible to communicate strengths and weaknesses of Travel Team to site supervisor to allow for best possible placements in cabins. • Responsible for problem solving and team building for Travel Team. • Responsible for making travel arrangements to get staff members to appropriate site. Will work with site managers/transportation leaders at each location to accomplish this. • Responsible to travel between sites to check in on staff members in Travel Team. Will check in with site managers and Village Coordinators/cabin coordinators at each site to discuss any concerns • Supervision and support to all Travel Team. Provide daily support and encouragement by helping in the cabin, problems solving, promoting team work and open communication. • Responsible for performance evaluations of Travel Team. Observe their interactions with other Village staff and participants. Offer feedback, suggestions in a supportive and timely manner. • Responsible for the scheduling time-off for Travel Team. • Responsible to schedule relief staff, and communicate verbally and in writing the schedule to each cabin, and the Program Manager. The Village Coordinator will serve as a “relief staff” in a village if needed. • Organize and implement travel team meetings to discuss problems and celebrate successes. • Responsible to communicate any medical needs in Travel Team to appropriate healthcare staff at site where individuals are working. • Responsible to communicate any special dietary needs in Travel Team to appropriate dining hall staff at site where individuals are working Programs • May assist in program areas as needed – driving hayrides, day trips, pontoon boats etc All Camp • Attend and participate in daily Leadership meetings as possible • Attend and assist in leading weekly all staff meetings as possible • Assist to ensure cabins and program areas are kept clean, neat and broken equipment is reported and/or repaired. • Participate fully in the check-in and check-out procedure; and assist with cabin and building clean-up as possible • Coordinate with Transportation Leader for the use of agency vehicles. • Is responsible to be organize and participate in staff activities (outings, gatherings) both during the weekend the weekend, as assigned by supervisor. • Responsible for reporting maintenance issues in a timely manner to maintenance staff. • Coordination of town runs with administrative staff as needed. • Assist with ordering approved supplies • To perform any miscellaneous duties as requested by administrative staff.
Job Qualifications:
Job Requirements: The Village Coordinator must be at least 21 years of age. A college major in a related field is preferred, but experience in the field of developmental disabilities may be an acceptable substitute. One or more years of residential camp experience, preferably in a camp for people with developmental disabilities. Current certification in Basic First Aid, Child/Adult CPR and Community Water Safety. Be able to provide “spunk” and positive energy to camp. Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, at least 3 years of driving experience and be at least 21 years of age.
