Job Description:
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Friendship Ventures Director/Lead Cook, the Special Diet Nutrition is directly responsible to develop alternative menus & prepare special diet meals for conference, retreat, camp, respite services and staff events. This person will help other kitchen & program staff have a better understanding of special diet & participants needs. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Develop alternative menus • Meal preparation • Assist with food service • Communicate with parents/caregiver on participant special diet requirements • Answer special diet nutrition questions • Help with training of kitchen and seasonal staff • Flexible with schedule and tasks 2. Assist at camp • Greet & welcome parents Sunday at camp check in • Maintain daily cleaning/sanitation of kitchen area • Assist with meal set set-up • Assist with inventory control • Purchase special diet foods • Assist with canteen • Returning all SD items to caregivers at check-out 3. Know and follow personnel policies of Friendship Ventures. 4. Assume all other duties and assignments as deemed appropriate by the Lead Cook - be flexible and willing to jump into any camp situation that might arise. Professional Development: The following activities should be conducted as a means of professional Development-The Lead Cook must agree upon these activities. • Attend appropriate training • Read related journals and books Performance Goals and Accountability: • To maintain quality working relationships with other staff members • Retain and develop favorable community feelings toward Friendship Ventures • To maintain excellent working relationships with all clients
Job Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills Required: Food Service Special Diet Nutritionist will have the skills, education and knowledge to handle special diets requirements of participants, staff & clients. Good organizational skills, willing to work independently, & excellent verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate must have the ability to demonstrate leadership and professional image to associates with clients & staff. Food preparation experience very helpful.
