Job Description:
The Food Bank of Iowa is looking for an AmeriCorps VISTA Member to become their Fund Development Coordinator! We serve 42 counties in Iowa, including both urban and rural communities. You will be involved in finding ways to educate communities where service gaps exist or distribution increases have not been satisfactory to spur community involvement in addressing the hunger needs on a county by county basis. Your efforts are key to reducing hunger and promoting healthy living in Iowa! Duties: • Research and develop a comprehensive program to increase revenue through corporate and foundation grants. Work with food bank staff and community partners to increase public awareness of the food bank and increase fundraising revenue through special events and food and fund drives. Work with key individuals to increase public awareness of hunger issues and food bank programs to increase the number of donors and volunteers through social media, website, printed materials and direct mail. Program Start/End Date: 11/4/2014 to 11/9/2015 Benefits: • Modest living allowance • Relocation allowance • $5,500 Education award or $1,500 End-of-service Stipend • Health Care Coverage • Childcare Assistance • Worker's Compensation Benefits • Student Loan forbearance may be available
