Job Description:
• Oversee, on a daily basis, the personal health, safety and well-being of each client within the guidelines of Easter Seals policies and procedures and Polk County guidelines. • Assist clients in maintaining clean, safe and healthy living environments. • Assist clients in searching for independent housing. • Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining educational or employment opportunities. • Perform garden and grounds maintenance tasks including planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, fertilizing and other tasks as required • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to provide effective client support • Familiarize the team with clients needs and ensure the team addresses all relevant areas of support • Maintain active communication with internal team members and clients’ support team • Complete all documentation as required (i.e. case notes, quarterly reports, etc.) • Interact with garden and Farmers market gusts as required • Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent • Experience working with persons with disabilities preferred. • Willingness to perform hands-on horticulture tasks in all weather conditions. • Demonstrated knowledge of basic plant maintenance and safe operation of tools and equipment • Ability to ambulate independently throughout Easter Seals buildings and grounds. • Ability to make independent decisions based on established policy, procedure and standard practice. • Access to Reliable Transportation for regular participation in work. • Possession of valid Iowa Chauffeur’s (Class D) License and maintenance of good driving record. • Insurable under Easter Seals vehicle insurance policy • Ability to work cooperatively with team members, clients and the public in a professional and concerned manner. • Ability to work non-traditional hours as required, including one weekend day per week • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift • Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds • Ability to successfully complete Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within first 30 days. • Ability to successfully pass Adult and Child CPR, First Aid and agency required trainings
