GV Spring Sport Athletes Honored for Academic Achievement


The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced the 2013 NAIA Scholar-Athlete recipients for spring sports.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Twelve Grand View student-athletes earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition:

Ryan Antolik - baseball
Dacia Miller - softball
Savannah Bice - softball
Nicole McDonald - women's golf
Amanda Jones - women's golf
Wes Hammer - track & field
Tyler Patten - track & field
Zach Vos - track & field
Austin Ward - track & field
Kelsey Carbajo - track & field
Allison McFayden - track & field

It is the second NAIA Scholar-Athlete award for Antolik, Miller, Jones, Ward and McFayden.
