Physiology Seminar

The Biology Department is proud to present: Sad Rats & Broken Hearts! or cardiovascular deconditioning, depression and cardiac arrhythmias: mechanisms and targets by Dr. Julia Moffitt, Ph.D., Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Des Moines University. Cardiovascular deconditioning, produced through physical inactivity, increases predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias and psychological depression. Dr. Moffitt’s seminar will focus on the possible role of the autonomic nervous system in mediating these effects as well as changes in the phosphorylation state of gap junction proteins in the heart.
