Institutional Effectiveness
What Is Institutional Effectiveness (IE)?
IE is the purposeful coordination and integration of functions that support institutional performance, quality, and efficiency (from Association for Higher Education Effectiveness, AAHE). At Grand View, those functions include outcomes assessment and program review, decision support, institutional accreditation, and student success. IE at Grand View provides leadership, assistance, and support to help the institution and departments answer the following fundamental questions:
- Are students engaged and learning?
- Are students graduating?
- Are students finding meaningful post-graduation work or graduate school?
| Accreditation |
IE provides leadership and oversight of the university’s institutional accreditation, ensuring the Grand View University meets the Higher Learning Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation and assumed practices. | Decision Support Services |
IE offers a broad array of decision support services to all units of the university. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the collection, analysis, and interpretation of institutional data to support planning and decision making. IE also provides development assistance and coordination of university-wide surveys.

| Assessment & Program Review |
IE supports assessment and program review processes by coordinating and providing administrative support and technical expertise to the standing faculty committee on Assessment and Program Review (APR), academic departments, and university units. Learn More (Internal Use Only)

IE provides leadership and strategic direction in supporting integrated, cohesive, and high-quality experiences for all students that support persistence, completion, and successful outcomes. This work is collaborative, involving faculty and administrative committees and other university offices dedicated to students success.
