Academics & the Arts

Academic Learning and Teaching (ALT) Center

The theory and practice of learning comes together in the Academic Learning and Teaching (ALT) Center.  Our goal is to help all students become more independent and successful lifelong learners by providing a wide range of services tailored to each student's needs.

The ALT Center was created specifically to support Grand View's diverse student body. All GV students can take advantage of the services listed below.

Our skilled staff can provide:

  • Academic support in areas such as time management, study skills, and test-taking strategies.

  • Support for English language learners, including tutoring in groups and one-on-one.

  • Math instruction and help for students in freshman, sophomore, and select upper-level math courses.

  • Peer tutoring in a wide variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, nursing, and business.

  • Writing support that ranges from drop-in tutorials to workshops and writing resources.

Current students can find more detailed information, including how to sign up online and which tutors are available for specific classes, on the ALT page on myView. You can find the ALT Center's hours here
