Meet the Team

Diane Johnson, Director of Admissions
djohnson@grandview.edu

Hi! This is the best job ever – giving students a chance to attain their dream of a college education. I love Grand View! I’ve worked here 27 years doing an assortment of about every job you could think of. I grew up behind the Student Center and have lived in this neighborhood all of my life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in communication at GV while working here full-time and raising a family, so I know how dedicated students need to be to reach their goals! In all of my 27 years, this is the most exciting time ever to be here! So many new and exciting things are happening and more are on the drawing board. Grand View gives you a solid, liberal arts education with the benefits of a small college atmosphere in the big city, academically sound degrees of study, and great professors who care about YOU. Come check us out!

Luanne Knudsen, Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions
lknudsen@grandview.edu

Hi!  I am the assistant director of transfer admissions and I'm a Viking through and through!  My folks met at Grand View, my brother and sister are both GV grads, and I'm GV class of '86.  I received a bachelor's in English.  I live in the country in a house built in 1878 and I have two collies.  I love my Grand View family!

Laura VanderTuig, Freshman Admissions Counselor
lvandertuig@grandview.edu

Welcome to Grand View!  I am a freshman admissions counselor and work with students from Northwest Iowa, a handful of local Des Moines area schools (Adel DeSoto Minburn, Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Dowling Catholic, East, Indianola, Iowa Christian Academy, North Polk and Saydel) and Texas.  I started working at Grand View in December 2010 and I absolutely love it here.  It is very rewarding to meet with prospective students and help them through the college search process.  I love seeing students come to campus and take full advantage of what Grand View has to offer both in and out of the classroom.  The people at Grand View are truly interested and invested in the success of each individual student on campus.  I hope you have the opportunity to visit us soon and experience what it means to “Do the View”!

Katie Heither, Freshman Admissions Counselor
kheither@grandview.edu

Welcome to Grand View! I'm a freshman admissions counselor, working with students from Southeast Polk High School and Northeast Iowa. I'm just starting my eighth year at GV and can honestly say I LOVE IT HERE! I am originally from a small town (Iowa Falls) and Grand View felt like a place I could call home, and guess what...I was right! I love working in Admissions because I get to help students, like yourself, with one the most important decisions you’ll ever make. I take my role very seriously, and I hope I can help you with any questions you may have about Grand View! I can tell you one thing for sure...you need to come check us out and see what it means to “Do the View!”

Tina Miranda, Freshman Admissions Counselor
tmiranda@grandview.edu

I am a freshman admissions counselor. I work with students from Southwest Iowa, local Des Moines area schools (Ankeny, Woodward, Johnston, and Grandview Park Baptist), as well as the rest of the U.S. I started working at Grand View in July 2007 and I love it here. The people at Grand View are amazing and so nice; this is something you will definitely notice when you visit campus! I am very excited to be a part of this great team - GO VIKINGS!

Jaime Miller, Freshman Admissions Counselor
jlmiller@grandview.edu

I am a freshman admissions counselor at Grand View. I work with students in Southeast Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, California and a few Des Moines area schools (North, Roosevelt, Valley, Van Meter, Waukee, Des Moines Christian, and Martensdale-St. Marys). I attended Marshalltown High School and graduated from Iowa State University in 2010. I started working at Grand View University in November of 2011. I quickly felt like a member of the Grand View family—the faculty, staff and students are so kind and welcoming. Grand View has so much to offer and continues to grow—it’s truly an exciting time to be a Viking!

Autumn Luce, Transfer Admissions Counselor
aluce@grandview.edu

I am a 2004 graduate of Grand View, where I received degrees in Broadcasting and Mass Communication. While in college, I worked in the admissions office and developed a passion for working in higher education. I loved every minute of college while I was studying at Grand View, and knew early on that I'd love to work here and help others have a similar experience.  Plus it's a very rewarding job; I get to help people achieve their goals of getting a college education. Go Vikings!

Carly Thompson, Transfer Admissions Counselor
cthompson@grandview.edu

I graduated in 2008 with a degree in business-marketing from Grand View after transferring from Muscatine Community College. I guess you could say I loved Grand View so much I didn’t want to leave…so here I am as a transfer admissions counselor working with transfers, readmitted and international students. I decided Grand View was the place for me the moment I walked in the door during my visit in the summer of 2004. Grand View’s family atmosphere and friendly faces make it such an enjoyable place to work and go to school.

Kaitlin Dallman, Freshman/Transfer Admissions Counselor
kdallman@grandview.edu

Hello! Welcome to Grand View University! I enjoy working with prospective freshmen, transfer and international students. I attended Iowa City West High School and went on to receive my degree in History from The University of Iowa. I have been working in the Grand View Admissions Office since July 2011 and am having a great time getting to know the students and faculty. Being from Iowa City, I love spending time exploring the Greater Des Moines area and believe that part of Grand View’s success is based on the opportunities the community is able to provide Grand View students. We’d love to have you become a Grand View University Viking!

I am very lucky to work with a great Admissions team! So many exciting things going on here that it makes you excited to come to work every day. I am proud to tell people I work at Grand View! Peg Brown, Database Specialist

I am a repeat employee of Grand View. I was here for 9 years previously and left for a few years after my girls were born. When an opening became available in the Admissions Office, I decided I had been away too long, and returned in January 1999. The Admissions Office is an awesome place and I am fortunate to work with an incredible staff. I'm married to a great guy, have two beautiful daughters, and live in Ankeny.

Peggy Henn, Admissions Assistant

Hello!  I am the admissions assistant at Grand View. I really enjoy working here and I especially enjoy meeting prospective students and their families. It is so much fun to help students get started on one of the most exciting journeys ever. I look forward to helping you set up a campus visit and hope you will come see us soon. Welcome to Grand View!

Sandy Quick, Database Specialist

I live in Pleasant Hill with my husband Mike and have two children.  Besides being a fan of my children's activities, my family and I enjoy camping, biking riding, sports and working in the yard. Mike and I enjoy Jimmy Buffett concerts, Ragbrai and playing pitch with good friends. I have worked for Grand View since May of 2007. I love the Admissions Office and all the people. In my search for a new job, I was looking for a fun and rewarding office and the Admissions Office is definitely the place. Admissions Rocks!
