Meet the Team

Ryan Thompson, Director of Admissions
rthompson@grandview.edu

I am the Director of Admissions and a native of Des Moines. I've worked in the college admissions field for more than 15 years. I became a Viking in 2015 and I am passionate about helping students and their families navigate the college search process. I believe in our mission to empower, equip, and engage students to fulfill their individual potential and serve society. We are committed to the development of the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – and to preparing students for successful careers as well as responsible citizenship both in their communities and in a diverse and changing world. I also have family connections to Grand View: my mother and sister are Grand View graduates. I attended high school in Tucson, Ariz., and received my bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. I enjoy playing sports, fly fishing, and spending time with my family.

Luanne Knudsen, Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions

Hi! I am the assistant director of transfer admissions and I'm a Viking through and through! My folks met at Grand View, my brother and sister are both GV grads, and I'm GV grad – class of '86. I received my bachelor's degree in English. I live in the country in a house built in 1878. As much as I love country life, I love being in Des Moines every day. I love my Grand View family!

Tina Miranda, Assistant Director of Admissions
tmiranda@grandview.edu

I work with incoming freshman from Southwest Iowa, local Des Moines area schools (Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Lincoln, Hoover, Woodward, Johnston, and Grandview Christian School), as well as the rest of the U.S. I started working at Grand View in July 2007 and I love it here. It is very rewarding to meet with prospective students and help them through the college search process. I love seeing students come to campus and take full advantage of what Grand View has to offer both in and out of the classroom. The people at Grand View are truly interested and invested in the success of each individual student on campus. I hope you have the opportunity to visit us soon! GO VIKINGS!

Jordan Doetkott, Freshman Admissions Counselor
jdoetkott@grandview.edu

Welcome to Grand View University! I’m a freshmen admissions counselor working with students from several local Des Moines area schools, northwest Iowa, and Minnesota. I am a Minnesota native and started with the admissions team here at Grand View in the fall 2016. I am an alumna of a small, liberal arts college in central Minnesota that I loved, and from the second I stepped foot on campus here at Grand View it felt just like home. I am amazed every day by the hard-working professors, coaches, alumni, staff members, and faculty who strive to make Grand View successful. I look forward to getting to work with each and every one of you as you begin the exciting journey of the college experience. Can’t wait to meet you!

Autumn Luce, Transfer Admissions Counselor
aluce@grandview.edu

I am a 2004 graduate of Grand View, where I received degrees in broadcasting and mass communication. While in college, I worked in the admissions office and developed a passion for working in higher education. I loved every minute of college while I was studying at Grand View, and knew early on that I'd love to work here and help others have a similar experience. Plus it's a very rewarding job; I get to help people achieve their goals of getting a college education. Go Vikings!

Sherri Swanson, Transfer Admissions Counselor

Thank you for your interest in Grand View! As a private college graduate, I can promise you attending Grand View University will be the best years of your college journey. The campus, students, faculty and staff will embrace you as family and the memories you’ll make will become your most treasured. I had an amazing college experience by attending a private college – having that personal attention and encouragement to grow spiritually, mentally and professionally made my college journey priceless. My passion for education and working with young minds has allowed me to work in the field of admissions since 1994. I have had the pleasure to work in enrollment in all age groups (private elementary through college). I also have the privilege to coach high school cheerleading at Saydel High School. My two amazing children (15 and 12) keep my heart busy and full of life. I look forward to working with you and I’m honored to be a part of your college journey. Welcome to Grand View...welcome home!

I live in Pleasant Hill with my husband, Mike, and have two children. Besides being a fan of my children's activities, I enjoy camping, biking riding, sports and working in the yard. Mike and I enjoy Jimmy Buffett concerts, Ragbrai and playing pitch with good friends. I have worked for Grand View since May 2007. I love the admissions office and all the people. In my search for a new job, I was looking for a fun and rewarding office and the admissions office is definitely the place. Admissions rocks!

I reside in Altoona with my husband, Kraig. We enjoy spending time with our family of three sons and daughters-in-law and three grandsons! I began my career as a GV data specialist in the admissions office in September 2014. It has been rewarding to be a part of admissions and getting to know the staff in a personal and business manner. I look forward to getting to know more about GV, the staff, and the activities that take place here.
