Grand View Choir Wraps up Spring 2011 Tour with Home Concert
The Grand View University Choir toured through Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada as part of its Spring 2011 tour. The tour concludes with a home concert on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church, Des Moines, IA. To view the tour itinerary, click here.
The tour program consists of choral masterpieces from the thirteenth century to the present. Specific composers on the program are Ludwig Senfl, Johannes Brahms, Knut Nystedt, Jean Berger, James Fritschel, Rene Clausen, Ola Gjeilo, Alice Parker, and many more. The pieces will also represent a range of works including anthems, motets, spirituals, and hymntune arrangements.
The Grand View Choir contributes a vibrant energy to the campus community by sharing its musical gifts at celebrations, worship services and campus gatherings throughout each academic year. In addition, the choir performs for various throughout the wider civic community. Touring every spring, the Grand View Choir has performed in most of the United States and also tours internationally every four years. Dr. Kathryn Pohlmann Duffy is Chair of the Grand View University Music Department and director of the Choir. She holds degrees from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa; Kansas State University; and the University of Chicago, where she earned her Ph.D. in musicology.
