Christian Murray Honored with Grand View Young Alumni Achievement Award
Christian Murray was honored with the Young Alumni Achievement Award at the President's Club Dinner held on Friday, September 30, 2011. This award was given to Murray for his professional accomplishments and contributions to our community.
Chris Murray was raised in Des Moines and excelled during his high school years in academics and soccer. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1994 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in international business and finance from Grand View in 1998. He completed his master’s degree at Iowa State University. Murray began his career at Wells Fargo and during his tenure he held such positions as commercial lender, underwriter, internal corporate auditor, and managed a mergers and acquisitions team. In 2003, Murray joined the Denny Elwell Company, L.C.; he was appointed president in 2007 and was later promoted to CEO in 2010. In addition to his executive duties, Murray participates in community, civic and professional activities. He is licensed real estate broker, a commissioner for the City of Ankeny’s Civil Service Commission, director on the boards of Bankers Trust Company, Putco Manufacturing, Inc., and Denny Elwell Company, L.C. He is also a member of the Grand View Academic Advisory Committee, an adjunct professor of real estate finance, and business curriculum advisor. At the age of 29, Murray was a recipient of the Des Moines Business Record’s 40 Under 40 in 2005. He and his wife of ten years, Amy, have an eight-year old daughter, Cleao.
