Interlibrary Loan

Grand View faculty, staff, and students may request items on interlibrary loan (ILL) free of charge.

Many of our electronic databases have an internal ILL function. In addition to this, a list of articles can be compiled through one of our databases and then the email function can be used to send the list to the library at library @ grandview.edu. Please be sure to indicate on the subject line that it is an ILL, along with your name and contact information.

If the library receives the item in electronic format from the lending institution, it will be emailed to your account; often within 24-48 hours of requesting it. Library users may also bring paper lists of requests to the front desk of the library for fulfillment.

Services

The library services desk is located near the library entrance and is staffed throughout the day to assist patrons. Library research assistance is available Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Several computer access options are available in the Library. The library has a computer lab located just inside the front entrance. Several of these computers provide access to campus-wide software packages. Additional workstations are available throughout the first floor.

Scan on demand is available to members of the campus community. They may request, via email or the library system, to have articles and a book chapter scanned and sent to them via email.

Printing and photocopying, including color, are available to the campus community. Photocopying and printing are also available to the general public at a rate of 10 cents per side.

Faculty Services

The Grand View University Library provides unique services to faculty and teaching staff in support of curricular and research needs. Department liaisons are also available to support curricular and departmental needs.

Class Instruction

Librarians are available to provide instruction to support library research in the classroom. Each session is tailored to meet the objectives and goals as outlined by the instructor. The method of instruction can depend upon the modality of the course.

Research Assistance

Subject bibliographies for your personal or research needs can be compiled by a librarian upon request. Faculty may also submit bibliographies to the library staff, and they will scan materials that the library owns and obtain the rest via interlibrary loan. All requests, except book, will be sent via email.

Reserves

Materials can be sent to the library or pulled from the shelves to be put on reserve. To initiate the process, please email the following information to library @ grandview.edu with the subject line reserve materials: instructor name, course number, and course title; if there are materials from our collection, please include a list.

Materials Request

The library encourages faculty to recommend books, serials, and streaming materials to purchase for the library collection. Lists can be sent via email to your department’s library liaison.

Journals Routing

Faculty members are encouraged to have the current issue of any of the library’s print subscriptions sent to them for viewing as they are received. It is also possible to set up automatic emails with table of contents lists from many of the library’s electronic journals. Library staff can help with setting this service up.
