Woodley Named AFCA NAIA National Coach of the Year
Grand View head football coach Mike Woodley has been selected as the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) NAIA National Coach of the Year. He will be honored at the AFCA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Woodley led the Vikings to the Grand View football program's most successful season in its six-year history. The Vikings went 14-0 in 2013, won their third-straight Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest Conference championship, and the program's first NAIA National Championship.
Woodley was also voted as the AFCA Regional Coach of the Year in December and the MSFA Midwest Coach of the Year in November.
"Mike is very deserving of the AFCA NAIA Coach of the Year award. Winning an NAIA Championship and to have an undefeated season in such a short amount of time is a testament to the kids that he has recruited, his assistant coaches, and the tireless effort he has put forward. We are very proud of what he, his players, and his coaching staff have accomplished and the positive manner in which they have represented Grand View University," said Grand View Athletic Director Troy Plummer.
Woodley has accumulated a record of 46-22 in his six seasons at Grand View and earned MSFA Midwest Coach of the Year honors three times.
