Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: o Promptly answers call lights to respond to patients' needs. o Dresses and undresses patients. o Assists Residents with bathing and showering. o Observes Residents’ skin and reports abnormalities to charge nurse. o Actively participates in Resident admission and discharge process o Assists Residents with personal care, such as hair, nails, oral care, shaving, etc. o Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help. o Transports Residents or assists Residents to walk. o Transfers Residents from one place to another using proper techniques. o Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance, using proper techniques and in accordance with protocol. o Provides fresh drinking water in each Resident room. Positions call lights so they are within reach of Residents. o Makes beds and changes bed linens and keeps Residents’ beds clean, dry and tidy. o Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, weights and other data as directed. o Assists with bowel and bladder function (i.e. toileting, bed pans) o Obtains specimens from Residents (urine, stool, etc.) o Documents and charts necessary information in a clear and organized manner. o Performs frequent rounds according to protocol o Reports all changes in Resident condition to charge nurse o Displays Job Competencies consistently
Job Qualifications:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant training program. Previous geriatric experience preferred. Language Ability: Ability to converse in English. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos using the English language. Ability to speak loudly; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Residents, Resident family members and other employees of the organization. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed. Certificates and Licenses: Indiana State Board of Health Certified Nursing Assistant certificate in good-standing Current CPR Certification Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
