POSITION SUMMARY Each editor is responsible for overseeing the editorial development of client marketing campaigns (print, web, and e-mail) and for creating strategic messaging strategies for fundraisers across a wide breadth of nonprofits. Combining creative ideas with strategy and vision, editors serve as consultants and authors for high-profile national clients and oversee the packaging of editorial materials for more turn-key clients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to these essential job functions, will be assigned in the discretion of the Editorial Director. 1. Develops content and messaging strategies for use in direct mail and e-mail campaigns. Maintains direct relationships with select Tier One clients. (80%) • Creates original written work as required, including donor testimonials, planned giving/estate planning/lifestyle articles, and Stelter marketing materials • Architects the editorial structure for individual nonprofits’ planned giving websites and landing pages. Creates content as required • Consults with clients on direct response approaches that will deliver superior customer connection rates in line with individual clients’ unique circumstances and goals • Articulates and applies Stelter research, analyzes direct response results and provides insights based on knowledge 2. Serves as an internal editorial consultant for employees from all departments who are fielding client requests and working on the production of marketing materials (15%) 3. Helps maintain The Stelter Company archive of content to ensure compliance with current tax laws, rates, editorial style, etc (5%) • Adheres to standard industry and Stelter style rules and journalistic practices • Follows all established SOPs; works within all established guidelines • Maintains records in Stelter systems as required COMPETENCIES 1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Excellent journalistic skills and creativity • Ability to articulate • Superior communication skills and proven ability to collaborate well with others • Command of style rules associated with print and Web media • Demonstrated excellent proficiency using Adobe InDesign, Mac OS X and Microsoft Office • Attention to detail • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate well with others • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet set deadlines EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communications • Three to five years professional writing and/or copyediting experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
