BONDURANT-FARRAR COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Nutrition Director - Job Description Scope: To provide planning, directing, implementing and evaluation of the District Food Service program in order to meet nutritional and education needs and requirements of the students and staff Reports to: Superintendent Requirements: Associates Degree in Culinary Arts/Food Service Management or similar field. Experience in Food Service industry and thorough knowledge of managing finances and supervising staff Performance Responsibilities: ? Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate District student food services programs ? Ensure federal and state guidelines for service Class A breakfast and lunches are followed, serving reimbursable lunches, including temperatures records as directed by HACCP ? Supervise food service personnel and preparation of food ? Supervise, clean and sanitize daily, including service areas, sweeping and scrubbing floors, and special equipment as needed ? Create menus according to National School Lunch Guidelines ? Organize work schedules ? Hire substitutes or call-in help as needed ? Resource for staff on required procedures and standards ? Lead District food service meetings including professional development for staff ? Calculate amount of food required and place weekly orders ? Schedule mandatory cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms ? Educated on all operating procedures of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to dishwasher, steamers, ovens, and slicers ? Recommend equipment needs and arrange equipment cleaning schedule ? Use safety and sanitation procedures at all times and enforce use of same including wearing approved clothing and hair covering ? Inventory food supplies to balance those used in production ? Determine quantity of food prepared daily as well as size of serving to meet age requirements ? Complete annual inventory of food equipment and kitchenware ? Oversee security of storerooms, kitchen, freezers, and equipment ? Attend all District food service meetings as required ? Communicate needs or concerns with superintendent ? Active in professional organization ? Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information ? Maintain a commitment to complete the school Food Service courses and sanitation classes ? Able to lift up to 50 pounds ? Clerical skills including Word and Excel ? Working knowledge of student behavior and demonstrate appropriate role model for students ? Ability to deal with emergency situations ? Capability of working in a standing position for prolonged periods and walking much of the time during the workday in warm temperature surroundings ? Possess the manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, choppers, and scales ? All other duties as assigned Terms of Employment: As per negotiated letter of agreement. Salary and Benefits: As per negotiated letter of agreement Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy on Evaluation of Director personnel. The superintendent will evaluate directors annually.
