Immigrant Iowan Scholarship
The Grand View Immigrant Iowan Scholarship is designed to bring a significant educational opportunity to a promising non-native Iowan. This scholarship awards full tuition and fees, plus room charges if the recipient lives on campus, to an outstanding incoming freshman who meets these qualifications:
Born of immigrant parents or an immigrant himself or herself
Graduating from an Iowa high school
High school GPA of 3.0 or higher
Not in the US on a student visa
Have demonstrated financial need
The scholarship is renewable for up to four years if the recipient meets these requirements: participation as a member of Grand View’s Multicultural Leadership Team; serving as a Grand View Multicultural Ambassador; maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA at Grand View. If eligible to apply for federal or state grants, the recipient must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to establish eligibility for federal and/or state grants. The FAFSA must be received by the processor prior to the Iowa Tuition Grant deadline each year. For the 2014-15 school year, the deadline for receipt is July 1, 2014.
Check with the Financial Aid Office each academic year for deadline information. If not eligible to apply for federal or state grants, the applicant must submit a statement documenting financial need. Applicants must apply for the scholarship and submit an essay along with a recommendation from a high school counselor, teacher or community leader.
The application deadline for 2014 has passed. Questions? Contact Diane Schaeffer Johnson, director of admissions, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 515-263-2810.
