Scholarship Day

Grand View University hosts a select number of events each year offering first-year students an opportunity to earn additional scholarship dollars. On scholarship days, students are invited to visit the Grand View campus and compete at different levels based upon their talent and academic ability.

Presidential Scholarship

  • Compete for full tuition scholarship
  • Compete for multiple $5,000 awards

Dean's Scholarship

  • Compete for multiple $3,000 awards

Director's Award

  • Compete for multiple $2,000 awards

GV Scholar's Award

  • Compete for multiple $2,000 awards
All non-winning attendees who participate in a scholarship day will receive a $1,000 Scholarship Competition Award. Plus, for any students coming to compete from out of state, non-winners will receive an additional $1,000 Discover Iowa Award.

Day of competition consists of:

  • Interview with GV staff, faculty, and alumni
  • Activities fair
  • Academic Sessions
  • Lunch (optional)
  • Tour of campus (optional)

10:30 a.m.  Student Interviews and Activities Fair
   Parent Presentation
11:30 a.m. Student Recognition and Closing
Noon Optional Tour and Optional Lunch
*The Grand View Bookstore, located in the Student Center, will be open from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.

What to Expect

  • Student Interview - The competition includes a 15-minute personal interview. There are no wrong answers. We are looking for well-crafted, thought-provoking responses that directly reflect you as an individual. You will be competing only against students at your scholarship level.
  • Dress for Success - We recommend students dress in a professional manner.
  • Parent Participation - We encourage parents and/or guardians to accompany their students to this event. (There is a two-guest limit.)
  • Lunch and Campus Tour - We will be offering an optional socially-distanced or to-go lunch for those families who would like to join us. Campus tours are also available.
  • Health and Safety - All events will be socially distanced and masks are required.
  • Have Fun! We look forward to getting to know more about you!

Safety Measures

Grand View University will be practicing social distancing throughout the entire Scholarship Day to ensure the safety of participants, faculty, staff and the GV community. Additional safety measures include:

  • Two guest limit per participant
  • Face masks expected
  • Hand sanitizer stations available
