Job Description:: 2nd Story Software, the makers of TaxACT located in Cedar Rapids, is hiring a full-time Web Designer. As part of the marketing team, the Web Designer will be responsible for improving the customer experience and site performance. Duties include: • Partnering with other designers and management to translate marketing objectives into clear, compelling content (graphics and copy) for TaxACT web sites • Helping create, implement and interpret results for multivariate testing • Regularly interpret analytics data and make recommendations to improve results • Implementing responsive design across sites • Taking a thorough understanding of TaxACT products, customers, and marketing strategy and applying to content and design • Collaborating with application developers and IT as needed • Staying current with web, design, and technological trends and best practices • Providing collateral for online advertising, email and other graphic design projects as needed. Job Qualifications:: Experience & skills • Professional and/or classroom experience in designing and developing for web and mobile web • Highly competent in server-side scripting languages (ASP, PHP, etc.) • Skilled in HTML and CSS without use of WYSIWYG editors • Strong visual and graphic design skills with advanced Photoshop skills • Knowledge of best practices related to browser and mobile device nuances, image optimization, and accessibility • Understanding of JavaScript and search engine optimization • Ideal but not required: Working knowledge of Flash and video editing software (ex: Camtasia, Captivate)
