Job Description:
This position reports to the Director of Events and is responsible for carrying out job duties and tasks associated with the successful operation of special events throughout the year. The individual must have a minimum of two years experience in event planning, event marketing, managing volunteers and a basic understanding of creative marketing software. The position requires knowledge of the overall marketplace and more specific understanding of the local running community. This individual needs to be goal oriented, self motivated and well organized to stick to an event action plan often times working independently on projects. Further, this position requires someone who is attentive to details, has good communication skills and management capabilities in order to further enhance current participation and develop new event opportunities. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Work closely with the Sports Commission Events team to assist on any projects or tasks associated with upcoming events. • Assist with creating an integrated volunteer recruitment strategy, while continuing to manage current volunteer databases for all events. • Assist with coordination and execution of all direct mail marketing, e-mail and social media communications to current and prospective participants. o Emphasis would be placed on partnering with other departments and staff to effectively create meaningful social media streams. • Assist to re-evaluate current event action plans and look for efficiencies for staff and committees as well as enhance the event experience. • Facilitate all equipment needs for each specific event and maintain detailed notes to review for future efficiencies and opportunities. • Manage donations for each specific event within the department including food, drinks, promotional items, certificates, kids fun run items, etc. • Assist with e-mail newsletter development and maintaining proper scheduling of marketing calendar specifically tied to upcoming events. • Assign and work closely with interns to ensure event logistics are completed. • Research other running events regionally and nationally for opportunities to enhance current running event operations, marketing and registration.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor degree Event planning Organized PhotoShop and InDesign experience a plus Be able to work in a small office environment
