Grand View University Announces Full-Tuition Dream to Teach Scholarship for DMPS Students
December 16, 2025
Grand View University is proud to offer the Dream to Teach Scholarship, a full-tuition opportunity for a high-achieving Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) student participating in the district’s Dream to Teach program. The scholarship supports a student who aspires to become an educator and encourages them to continue their journey at Grand View
“At Grand View, we believe in removing barriers so talented students can focus on achieving their goals,” said Dr. Rachelle Keck, President of Grand View University. “This scholarship empowers aspiring teachers to pursue their calling with confidence and purpose. We are honored to support their journey and look forward to welcoming the next generation of educators to our campus.”
In addition to covering full tuition, the scholarship also includes on-campus housing if the recipient chooses to live on campus, with the student responsible for board.
To be considered, applicants must actively participate in the DMPS Dream to Teach program, hold a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher, be admitted to Grand View in a pre-education academic program, plan to enroll as a full-time day student, and be eligible to file the FAFSA. Selection factors include academic performance, ACT or SAT scores, course rigor, participation in Dream to Teach, and letters of recommendation. Applicants must also submit an essay and two letters of recommendation, with at least one coming from a Dream to Teach Coordinator or mentor. The Dream to Teach Scholarship cannot be combined with other Grand View scholarships, though eligible recipients may still receive federal and state grants as part of their financial aid offer.
Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, continue full-time enrollment in the education program, remain in good disciplinary standing, and file the FAFSA annually by July 1.
This scholarship strengthens a longstanding partnership between Grand View and DMPS. Every other year, Grand View hosts Dream to Teach students for a campus experience day, with the next visit planned for this spring. Grand View education majors also support literacy across DMPS through the Reading Ready tutoring program, and in March 2026, GV students will read with children at ten DMPS elementary schools for Read Across America. Additionally, ten DMPS employees are currently earning their All Strat teaching licensure through Grand View’s Viking Contract program, expanding the educator pipeline within the district.
The Dream to Teach Scholarship reflects Grand View University’s commitment to preparing future educators and supporting DMPS students as they take the next step toward their teaching careers.
