Student Leadership

Grand View's student leadership program provides opportunities for students to gain valuable leadership experience that enhances critical thinking, decision making, interpersonal relationships, and networking skills.

Students apply for leadership positions in the spring semester, and upon being selected, participate in spring and fall leadership trainings. Throughout the academic year, student leaders work closely with their leadership team advisor and receive mentoring and constructive feedback to enhance their leadership development.

At Grand View, we believe learning to lead is part of your success. No matter what career path you choose – whether it’s in education, business, nursing, technology, communication or entrepreneurial endeavors – leadership skills can broaden your perspective and enhance your effectiveness.

Peer Counseling

Peer Counselors provide a respectful, supportive, and trustworthy place for students to talk openly about their feelings or concerns. It is not the job of the peer counselor to give advice and tell students solutions to their problems, but rather help give suggestions and create a safe place for students to find their own solutions.

Peer Counselors are not professional counselors. They offer support through their interactions. All peer counselors are trained in a variety of areas, ranging from stress management to suicidal thoughts. They offer a non-judgmental, empathetic environment to help support whatever students may be going through.
