Homecoming at Grand View
Grand View University welcomed alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends back to campus September 27 through October 4 for Homecoming 2026, celebrating 130 years of memories, milestones, and Viking pride.
The week included Wine with President Keck at Urban Cellar, Homecoming Chapel, the Viking Lunch, Bingo Night, Grand View’s 130: Then. Now. Next., Drinks & Hymns, the 1896 Club Dinner, and the Homecoming Festival, along with opportunities to reconnect and celebrate the Grand View community.
Grand View recognized this year’s alumni award recipients, including:
- Distinguished Alumni Award: Amber Deardorff ’04
- Danish Heritage Preservation Award: Lynette Rasmussen
- Robert L. Mahaffey Community Service Award: Chris Von Mende ’91
The 10 Under 10 Alumni Award recipients were Camden Blowers ’22, Kyle Boulanger ’19, Grant Henderson BA ’18, MS ’25, Kaylee (Grote ’18) Mathews, Andrew McGuire ’17, Jordan Nieuwenhuis ’23, Eva Sandoval Moreno BA ’16, MS ’20, Victoria (Richardson ’17) Shrewsberry, Alex Welsch ’17 and Joseph Wernau BSW ’22, MSW ’23.
The weekend also included the Athletics Hall of Fame induction of Randy Brady ’01, Kara Keller ’12, Chad Proehl ’92, Meghan Finnel-Tomlinson BA ’10, MS ’15 and former head football coach Mike Woodley. Vikings celebrated a 66-13 football victory over Clarke University before wrapping up the weekend with Sunday worship and the Softball Alumni Game.
As Grand View celebrates 130 years, Homecoming was a wonderful reminder of the connections that bring generations of Vikings together. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our past, present, and future!
