Cost Explanations

• Tuition for the 2023-2024 academic school year is for full-time students (12-18 credits). Any credits over 18 carry an additional fee.
• Enrollment in the summer term is optional.
• If a student is not going home for the summer, an additional $2,100 should be added for summer housing/living expenses.
• Please note, costs are subject to change without notice.
• All Access: Ultimate meal blocks for the student only for the entire semester for the set days determined by the meal plan.
• Declining Balance: Money that can be used at Grand View Express, Einstein Bros. Bagels, or the Student Dining Center during the semester and does not carry over to the next semester.
• Meal Block: Equals one swipe of your meal card for either breakfast, lunch or dinner for yourself or a friend.

Summary of Fees

Technology Fee

The technology fee covers the cost to acquire, install and maintain technologies that enhance the student learning experience and provide equitable access to technology resources. Examples of technology fee usage includes, but is not limited to, smart classrooms, computer labs, learning content and content management software, electronic media and library databases, distance learning hardware/software, and access to the wireless network. This fee is assessed to full-time day students (fall/spring) and graduate students (fall/spring/summer). The fee is assessed to part-time, online, evening, and weekend students (GPS) as part of their per credit hour tuition rate.

Online Course Fee

The online course fee is used for the development, maintenance and delivery of online courses, including additional training costs, development, maintenance and assessment of courses, compliance with distance education rules, etc. This fee is assessed per credit hour for any online courses.

Student Activity Fee

The student activity fee provides funding for the activities and services available to Grand View students, both on and off campus including, but not limited to Viking Council (student government), Student Activities Council (SAC), student publications, Student Leadership Team, Multicultural Ambassadors and student clubs. This fee is assessed to all full-time day students during the fall and spring semesters.

Resident Activity Fee

The resident activity fee provides funding to support the activities and events offered within the residential community. This fee is assessed to all residential students during the fall and spring semesters.

Applied Music Fee

The applied music fee covers the cost of one-on-one instruction for students receiving private music lessons. This fee is assessed to music students receiving private lessons and is in addition to regular tuition.

Parking Fee

The parking fee helps pay for the costs associated with maintaining campus parking lots. Examples include, but are not limited to, parking signs, parking lot maintenance and improvements, campus security to patrol the lots, parking lot lighting, snow removal, etc. This fee is assessed to all students during the fall and spring semesters, with the exception of those who are in online instruction only or who have received an exception due to not bringing a car to campus.

Commuter 80 Board Plan

The commuter board plan provides commuter students with declining balance dollars to spend at any of the three food service locations on campus, including the Student Dining Center, Einstein Bros Bagels (Library), and Grand View Express. The dollars are stored on their student ID and reset each semester. This plan is provided to all full-time day students who have not selected another meal plan during the fall and spring semesters.

Graduation Fee

The graduation fee helps fund the cost of conferring a degree, including, but not limited to, the diploma, diploma cover, mailing the diploma, cap and gown, and defraying some of the costs of the commencement ceremony. This fee also offsets the cost of reviewing the transcript to ensure the students have officially met the requirements of the degree they are receiving. This fee is assessed to all graduates regardless of whether or not they attend the ceremony and is usually added to their account about a month prior to the end of their last term. For full-time day students who have an enrollment deposit on file, the graduation fee will be paid by the enrollment deposit.

Athlete Wellness Fee

The athlete wellness fee helps cover the costs incurred specifically for student athletes. These costs include, but are not limited to, athletic training, athletic rehabilitation needs, and athlete-specific programming, monitoring, and oversight for strength and conditioning. This fee is assessed to all student athletes. It is assessed each fall and spring semester that the student is considered an active athlete regardless if the sport is in competition season or not.
