2020 World Food Prize Address
October 8, 2020
The 2020 World Food Prize address will be Thursday, November 5 from 11 am - noon. To keep everyone safe, the event will be held virtually. We are pleased to have Dr. Philip E. Nelson, 2007 World Food Prize Laureate, as our presenter. His talk is entitled, “A Career with Unexpected Impact.” Time will be allotted at the end of his presentation for Q & A.
Philip E. Nelson, Professor Emeritus of Purdue University, revolutionized the food industry by developing innovative technologies for large-scale “aseptic” packaging, storage, and transportation of fresh fruit juices and vegetables. His bulk sterile processing has reduced losses to spoilage and provided millions of people around the world access to fresh, nutritious food. Nelson, recognized as the leader of modern food science and technology, saw the untapped potential of aseptic technologies for large-scale applications. He went on to develop bulk processing and packaging technology, which can be found in almost every country in the world.
