Dr. LaGier Joins International Group of Medical and Infectious Disease Experts Advocating the Use of Masks to Suppress COVID-19

Microbiologist, former CDC EID Fellow, and Biology professor Dr. Mike LaGier recently joined an international group of medical and infectious disease experts formed to advocate for the universal wearing of masks in public settings as a critical component in suppressing the spread of COVID-19. The group includes prominent scientists including Dr. Harold Varmus, Noble Prize winning Virologist, and Dr. Bengt Holmstrom, Noble Prize winning Economist.
Dr. LaGier was among 100 expert signatories on an open letter sent to public health agencies around the world, including the World Health Organization.
