Emergency Grants for GV Students Now Available

April 17, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused financial distress for many students and families. The Federal emergency grants funded through the CARES Act are now available. In addition, Grand View has two additional sources of emergency funding that are also available, including our own GV Cares funds.

The federal emergency grants are meant to cover “expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care.” To apply for emergency funding, students need to fill out this short form. This form covers all three sources of funding. Upon review, it will be determined which funding best serves each situation.

Grand View has considerable discretion to determine the amount each student is awarded based on need and circumstances. Funding is limited. It cannot be guaranteed that all requests will be granted but the hope is to assist as many students as possible.

Upon receipt of application, students will receive a follow-up call from their GV Complete completion coach or a Financial Aid Office staff member. Grand View’s goal is to help students through this crisis and make it possible for them to continue and complete their degree. Questions about the emergency aid or the form can be directed to Beth Carlson, director of GV Complete, at bcarlson@grandview.edu or 515-263-2902 or Sarah Freestone, director of financial aid at sfreestone@grandview.edu or 515-263-2853.
