January 16, 2019

Kevin M. Gannon, Ph.D., Director, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Professor of History at Grand View, participated in a scholarly roundtable entitled “Nostalgia and Narrative After Charlottesville,” a discussion of how scholars and practitioners in medieval and US Civil War history have sought to counter white supremacist movements using historical symbols and narratives to legitimize racism and violence. It was a joint session between the American Historical Association (AHA) and Modern Language Association (MLA) as both organizations had their annual meetings in Chicago this year.
