Grand View Offers New Public Health Major

June 1, 2023

Grand View University is excited to announce the addition of a Public Health major beginning this fall. The public health major at Grand View University prepares students to promote health in individuals and communities. Public health is a broad major, including components of biology, epidemiology, kinesiology, economics, psychology, statistics, business and communication. Upon completing the program, students will be prepared for a career in a governmental agency, non-profit organization, educational setting or business; as a community health worker, health education specialist, or worksite health promotion professional; or to enter a Master’s in Public Health program.

Public health concerns such as decreasing life expectancy, increasing obesity rate, and managing infectious disease outbreaks are of increasing concern in the United States. As such, there is a need for passionate, productive individuals in the field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), overall employment of health education specialists and community health workers is projected to grow 17 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations. The Public Health program at Grand View University allows students to gain the knowledge and skills required to combat these pressing issues and enter a rapidly growing workforce.
