Nielsen Concert Series: Anita Graef, Cellist

Anita Graef, cellist, will perform at Grand View on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Robert M. Speed Lyceum.

Described as a musician of “superb artistry” (Pasadena Now) who plays with “high energy and polish” (WQXR), cellist Anita Graef has earned recognition for her music making as an artist who is equally at home exploring traditional as well as contemporary works.  Between performances with major orchestras throughout the country, Anita Graef and pianist Louise Chan maintain a busy recital schedule as well. 

Their program at Grand View includes the following works: Gershwin, Three Preludes for Cello and Piano Beethoven, Cello Sonata No 4, Op. 102, No. 2 Mendelssohn, Cello Sonata No. 2 in D Major, Op. 58 Beach, Five Pieces for Cello and Piano Franck, Sonata in A Major, M. 8

The Nielsen Concert Series, founded by Grand View University in 1981 to honor past-president Ernest Nielsen and his wife, Frances, is dedicated to enriching cultural life in the Des Moines area by presenting the finest in chamber music and solo recitals.
