Academic History
Hired at Grand View in August, 1976 as Assistant Professor. Over the years, Doug has been Associate Professor and held the rank of Professor at the time of retirement from full-time teaching. Over the course of his years at Grand View, he was Political Science Department Chair until 2012, and for a short period of time was Assistant Director of Academic Computing and Director of Administrative Computing before returning to full-time academic teaching.

Research / Accomplishments
Doug has written a number of articles that have been published in computer and social statistics journals. He is an editorial reviewer of manuscripts submitted to The Journal of Statistical Methodology. He also created the website R Statistics and Programming and contributes articles and ongoing research projects regularly.
Personal Interests
His personal interests include RV travel and camping, fishing. Doug has been a licensed ham radio operator for over 55 years. He has been interested in vintage collectibles of various kinds, and is currently interested in vintage black powder rifle and pistol shooting. He also likes to buy and sell vintage certified coins.
