Why Major in Accounting?

Employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 4% from 2022 to 2032, about as fast as the average for all occupations.

About 126,500 openings for accountants and auditors are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

Other Accounting Paths at Grand View

Having a degree will look great to a potential employer, however, when it comes to your education, the more accolades you accumulate, the more appealing it will become. A minor or certificate will boost your regular degree over other candidates and demonstrate that you are willing to go above and beyond. More importantly, it shows potential employers that, when it comes to learning, you are eager to learn as much as you can and are willing to put in the extra effort.

Accounting Minor

The minor in accounting is open to all non-accounting students at Grand View University. It offers students a strong foundation in financial and managerial accounting beyond the introductory level.

With the increasingly interdisciplinary model used by businesses, completion of the minor broadens career opportunities and increases the student's marketability. With careful course selection, completion of the minor will accrue enough accounting credits for students from any major to apply for direct admission to a Master of Accounting program upon completion of the undergraduate degree.
