On February 14, 1990, Voyager I captured Earth from beyond Saturn. Carl Sagan reflected: “That’s here. That’s home. That’s us… on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” Now, as Voyager nears its 2025 shutdown, artist Mary Kline-Misol and conservationist Christine A. Curry present an extraordinary exhibition responding to the climate crisis. Kline-Misol presents Iowa’s father of land ethics, Aldo Leopold, alongside Icon for Hildegard of Bingen and The Ghost of John Muir in two monumental triptychs that honor interconnected life and stewardship. Curry confronts Iowa’s water crisis with humor through PURE IOWA Water, an Andy Warhol–inspired pop-art installation featuring bold oversized visuals, video, and aluminum can graphics. Her work highlights six Iowa watersheds and celebrates conservation farmers and champions working toward solutions. Together, their work is both homage and warning: an invitation to wonder—and a call to action.
