Master of Social Work Program Granted Initial Accreditation by CSWE
July 14, 2025
Grand View University is proud to announce that its Master of Social Work (MSW) program has been granted initial accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Board of Accreditation (BOA). This marks a major milestone for the program and affirms its commitment to excellence in social work education.
Initial accreditation indicates that the program has undergone a rigorous peer-review process and meets or exceeds the nationally recognized standards of program quality established by the BOA. It provides reasonable assurance of the program’s quality and the competence of students graduating from it.
“The granting of initial accreditation for the Grand View MSW program is the culmination of a year of planning, followed by three years of annual visits from accreditation specialists, thousands of pages of documentation, and a great deal of diligence on the part of social work faculty and adjuncts, and university administration and staff,” said Dr. Cathy Beck-Cross, Associate Professor of Social Work and MSW Program Director at Grand View. “We also want to thank our advisory council members and students who provided feedback, especially those who trusted our ability to complete the rigorous process. We are pleased to move into this next chapter of quality graduate programming for future social work practitioners!"
Accreditation applies to all program options, including delivery methods and locations. It confirms that the program has sufficient resources to meet its stated mission and goals and has demonstrated compliance with all accreditation standards.
Initial accreditation status extends through 2033, at which point Grand View’s MSW program will be eligible to apply for reaffirmation of accreditation.
