Dr. Dominique D. Burns (she, her) earned her Ph.D in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. She is passionate about creating safe spaces for healing to restore resiliency in the clients that she serves. As a partner in therapy, she assists clients with their journey through the continuum of care from victim to survivor to thriver by empowering them to address trauma with innovate mental health strategies.
As an educator, she believes that learning and education is an act of freedom. bell hooks states “freedom… that connects the will to know with the will to become.” Freedom through education gives the student an opportunity to recognize barriers that limit them and the knowledge to overcome and be resilient when faced with those barriers in their lives. She approaches educating from a centered, humanistic, and collaborative way. Beyond the Counselor Education role, she teaches yoga and enjoys the outdoors, reading, dance and spending time with family and friends.
