lightlightlightlightlightlight is a solo exhibition from the Iowa artist Catherine Reinhart that will be displayed from September 1 - October 3 at the Prairie Meadows Art Gallery in the Rasmussen Center. The exhibition features interdisciplinary works about grief, care, labor, and time. With artworks spanning fiber, sculpture, and installation, lightlightlightlightlightlight visually explores the themes of grief - collective and personal, and labor - maternal, manual, and artistic. Using materials such as human hair, thrifted textiles, and gold leaf, this exhibition is a meditation on revaluing broken objects and invisible labor in our societies.
From the artist, “I have always been interested in the remnant, the residual, and the absence. Leftovers are a kind of evidence of action. An imprint. I like the sadness of these abandoned materials. I ask, 'What is Lost & What is Held?'."
Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
