Coaching Skills Training

Grand View University - Student Center, Prairie View Plaza Room - 2811 E. 14th St., Des Moines, Iowa 50316

This skills training is an online/blended course that introduces the participant to the WHY? HOW? and WHAT? of compassionate listening. The WHY of compassionate listening is "caring enough about another person to hear the story in their story." The HOW of compassionate listening involves active listening, discovery learning, and the IDEA method of mentor-coaching. And the WHAT of compassionate listening is "to help others become better versions of themselves and more effective leaders in the spheres of influence." This training takes one month to complete and involves watching video sessions, review tests, discussion posts, and two in-person Zoom meetings (one at the beginning and the second one at the end of the training).

Join us for two days of coaching training on Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. for both days!

Coach training helps you empower those you lead to discover the resources they already have to move forward on their own. While mentoring is the process of giving an individual new insights and ideas, coaching is about helping individuals draw out their own insights.

Individuals often deny or resist the insights they are told, but when they make a discovery on their own, they embrace it. They own it. Coaching is all about the power of discovery. Coaching empowers individuals to discover the way forward. Coaching has also become an essential skill and paradigm for leaders in the workplace, non-profit sector, and church ministry context.

The cost of the training is $80 which includes instruction, materials, lunch both days, and coffee/tea each morning.

If you are responsible for leaders and their development, then Coach Training is for you. Register below!
