October 21, 2026

Grand View University is pleased to announce the election Amber Deardorff '04 to its Board of Trustees. Approved during the Board's October 2026 meeting, Deardorff will begin her term at the Board's February 2027 meeting.

Amber Deardorff was named president and CEO of Mary Greeley Medical Center in August 2025, bringing more than two decades of experience with the organization and a career grounded in patient care, nursing leadership, and service. Since joining Mary Greeley in 2003, she has served in a variety of roles, including patient care technician, registered nurse in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit, director of clinical applications systems, vice president, chief nursing officer, and chief operating officer.

Amber earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand View University after completing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Iowa State University. She later earned a Master of Public Administration from Drake University. As an adult student at Grand View, Amber appreciated the flexibility and support that allowed her to balance work, education, and other responsibilities. She credits her nursing education with teaching her prioritization, goal setting, and time management while reinforcing that kindness, empathy, and caring for others are at the heart of true success.

Today, Amber leads Mary Greeley Medical Center, a community acute care hospital dedicated to serving patients and families. She is especially proud of the organization’s commitment to high-quality care and its culture of putting patients, families, and team members first. Under her leadership, she carries forward the belief that meaningful accomplishments are achieved through dedicated teams united by a shared purpose.

Amber is actively involved in her church, United Way of Story County, community events, and school district activities. She also serves on the Iowa Hospital Association Board and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She and her husband, Luke, have been married for 25 years and live in Ames with their three children, Elaina, Natalya, and Elijah.

For Amber, leadership is service, and her proudest accomplishment is being called “mom.” Her career reflects her belief that the greatest impact comes from caring for others and helping teams thrive.
