May 8, 2019

The Iowa Chapter of FEI (Financial Executives International) Academic Awards night dinner was held on April 4, 2019 at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club in West Des Moines, IA. Grand View University students Magda Almendarez and Marten Muehlenhaus received the Outstanding Accounting and Finance Academic Recognition Award. They are pictured with Thomas C. Annis, M.S., CFA, Assistant Professor of Business Administration (Finance) at Grand View.

The meeting in April is one of the highlights of the FEI Iowa chapter programming year, and is always well received. At that meeting, they recognize and honor two students from each Iowa Chapter member colleges and universities who are majoring in Finance or Accounting, chosen by their faculty. The schools historically represented, and represented in 2019 include: Drake University, Grand View University, Iowa State University, Simpson College, and the University of Northern Iowa.

FEI has been the voice of corporate finance since 1931, and has 10,000 members. The local chapter has a distinguished membership of nearly 90 professional financial executives, and has been providing quality programming and colleague fellowship to its members for 75 years, as they were founded in 1944.

The local chapter meets monthly, providing professional development and continuing education. Each year, they address topics in their professional field such as ethics, business and career decisions, emerging trends, technology, economics, and other aspects affecting public and private companies. As well, every year they contribute to the national research foundation for FEI.

Congratulations, Magda and Marten!
