Grand View Granted Initial Accreditation for Social Work Program
November 15, 2017
The Council on Social Work Education has formally granted Grand View University Initial Accreditation
for its baccalaureate social work program. Accomplishing this achievement has been a three-year process, involving annual Council on Accreditation site visits, and extensive examination of the curriculum, social work faculty qualifications, field education experiences, and assessment of outcomes in program graduates. Accreditation ensures a program meets rigorous national standards that prepare the student to incorporate the knowledge, skills, and values of the profession in to their future practice. Students who graduate from an accredited bachelor-level social work program are also eligible for advanced standing when applying to graduate school toward a Master's degree in social work. The 2017 graduates of the Grand View social work program will be considered retroactively to have graduated from an accredited program. Social work program faculty include Dr. Cathy Beck-Cross, Program Director, and Myke Selha, Field Education Director, who led the program through the accreditation process.
